This is the release of update 0.1.1 for my Ludum Dare game, Destruction Upon The Town!
DUTT is a top down "strategy" game with cute little guys. I have almost nothing else to say to sell the game to you so let's just go over the new update.
Minor Update 1 - v0.1.1
- gameplay changes:
- * mana:
- mana no longer regenerates upon defeating villagers
- mana now regenerates a little bit over time
- after summoning a creature, mana has a cooldown before regenerating
- summoning:
- added a small cooldown to summoning after summoning a creature
- summons:
- fire sprites now drop small pools of fire upon death
- shadow imps now only appear at night
- summons now have a stealth level that depicts how far other villagers will be alerted when damaging a villager
- smaller summons have a smaller alert range (higher stealth)
- larger summons have a bigger alert range (lower stealth)
- villagers:
- slightly increased villager movement speed
- villagers should no longer stack on top of each other
- added two new villagers:
- priest | runs from danger but leaves behind a blessing
- wizard | zaps entities at a far distance and gives the player mana on death
- improved AI of all little guys
- decreased the time of all creature's invincibility frames after taking damage
- added a countdown to announce the last 10 seconds of the day
- fixed an issue with the Level 5 (Rat Pack) checkpoint
- Armageddon mode: metropolis | available to access from the level select in the title screen
- mana refreshes everyday
- kill all the villagers to clear each day
- failure to do so will result in a loss
- complete the 25th day to win
- * mana:
- visual changes:
- added day and night time ambience

- birds chirping
- night:
- crickets chirping
- toads croaking
- fireflies wondering
- day:
- updated fire particles visuals
- small camera shake when a villager dies
- increased the Bloom amount
- improved summoning visuals
- updated summoning circle sprite
- evaporating light beam
- new ground crater
- damage dealt to villagers nearby
- damage dealt to villagers nearby
- mouse sparkles now only appear when a creature is selected for summoning
- updated mouse sparkles
- some villagers have torches that they light at night
- added an indicator that appears where your summons have died
- villagers now leave behind their skull upon death
- added new guys to the title screen
- changed the color of the currently selected summon from blue to pink
- added the mana cost of each summon to their summon selection
- updated the level select menu
- updated the help menu
- added day and night time ambience
- setting changes:
- add an ambience volume slider
- sped up the settings menu appearing and disappearing animations
That concludes this update's patch notes, not a whole lot of gameplay changes, mostly just visual changes, but hopefully new people coming to check it out like it.
